The Science Behind DHH-B | A Natural Supplement For Your Mood

In This Article:

In today’s high-paced world of economic uncertainty where careers and fortunes can come and go in the time it takes to download an app to a smartphone, more young people are experiencing negative physical effects from anxiety disorders usually associated with people their parent’s age.

While technology certainly can provide answers, often the best solutions are derived from nature. A new take on an old remedy, DHH-B, the main ingredient in an herbal / plant-based solution, has been found to prove effective yet safer than more commonly used chemical treatments.

An Alternative Natural Remedy for Anxiety Relief

Throughout the second half of the 20th century, it became quite common for doctors to prescribe Valium, a medication of the Benzodiazepine group as an anxiolytic in order to treat conditions such as anxiety, insomnia and even alcohol withdrawal.  Unfortunately these drugs lower brain activity and with repeated use often carry a host of negative side effects including but not limited to decreased motor function, difficulty with respiration, continued feelings of disorientation and even drug withdrawal symptoms.

Fortunately an ancient remedy, often unknown even to those well versed in alternative medicine can be substituted for harsh and even dangerous prescription depressants. Magnolia Bark, or more specifically DHH-B extracted from it, can be used as a safer and non-addictive treatment for anxiety disorders.

DHH-B or dihydrohonokiol-b is an organic compound that is derived from a magnolia bark extract called honokiol.

Benefits of DHH-b

Honokiol has been medically proven to be anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-allergic. It can be used to alleviate pain, heal cerebrovascular injuries, treat epilepsy, and even lessen the symptoms of cognitive disorders including Alzheimer’s disease.

DHH-B contains a significantly larger amount of honokiol proven to have an anti-anxiety effect similar to more common prescription drugs but minus the negative side effects long-term users often experience from depressants. Unlike conventional depressants, it can be used during the daytime in a work environment to effectively ease anxiety attacks as well as helping to fall asleep at night.

Oddly enough, even in a market saturated with natural supplements for anxiety, Magnolia Bark and its positive effects are not as well known as other more popular remedies like St John’s Wort, though it has been proven to be at least as effective. It works by boosting an important neurotransmitter called “GABA” that has a calming effect on the human nervous system. Since increased levels of GABA counteract the effects of general anxiety, it can aid with regulating health sleep cycles.

Magnolia Bark’s main derivatives, honokiol and magnolol, help activate the endocannabinoid system located throughout the body, and can help to elevate moods, reduce inflammation and even relieve pain. Since it is an adrenaline inhibitor and suppresses cortisol – hormones associated with stress – magnolia bark can stimulate alertness and mental vigilance.

DHH-b is now available as an anti-anxiety supplement, or anxiolytic and can be used as a natural alternative to Valium and other Benzodiazepines.
